NOT for sale

We have officially taken our condo OFF the market.  I'm actually pretty happy about this and a little relieved as well.  Unfortunately, it does mean I don't get to buy this beauty of a house.

Nor do I get a craft room... a dining room table... an office... or a garage.

But like I said, it's all good.  Our original plan was to stay in this condo a little longer.  However, when the economy took the turn it did, we figured we'd try to sell our place--even if it meant taking a slight cut--in order to get a good deal on the flip side.  That ended up not being the case.  I'm glad we went through the process though.  It helped us define where we want to live, what we are willing to compromise on and what we aren't, and get a truer understanding of what our budget will be when we do try again.

Half way through our six month contract we were ready to have the house off the market.  People were coming to look at it and saying stupid comments like, "Oh, we don't want a one bedroom", or "it's priced too high" (which it's NOT), or they didn't like the size of the living room, and on and on.  Plus, I think we realized after looking at what was out there, that it was just wiser to stay.

Michael was in the process of buying this place when we met.  He was the first owner, so it's basically brand new.  It has multiple upgrades including stainless steel appliances, laminate wood floors and berber carpet.  He was also able to afford the place on his own, and that was when he was working his old job and making less money.

Needless to say, our mortgage is pretty cheap compared to what we actually could afford.  It's going to take a little sacrifice to stay.  It's annoying to not have enough storage, or a place to sit down and do paperwork.  It's not the most convenient to have people over because of the layout.  But we can take the inconveniences for just a little while longer, because by staying here and having a super low mortgage, we'll be able to pay off all of our student loan debt faster.

I just have to quit dreaming of having a dining room

Or a king size bed

I know they'll come one day... its just hard being "wise" and patient! :)
