For those of you who aren't from around here, Lancaster is about an hour drive from where I work. The museum is by no means one of the big ones that offer all the bells and whistles. It's literally a two room warehouse looking thing. One of the rooms actually has one of those huge garage doors. However, it offers things that other places don't, it's rather cheap ($5) and it's good for a change of scenery. Because it's an hour away and it's on the smaller side, it's not a place I plan on visiting weekly or even monthly for that matter. But it's a good place to check out every six months or so.
Currently the AHA! Children's Museum offers 23 exhibits. Some of these are big and lots of fun and some are small and not really "exhibit" worthy in my book. Again, still a fun place to check out every once in a while.
Here's some of the things we checked out.
Water Table
This is one of Little Man's favorite!
They do have rain coat type things, but Little Man's sleeves and pants still ended up getting soaked.
They also have spots for little ones to sit in.
I think the pipes were the main culprit of the wet clothes.
The fishing boat was one of the main reason's Little Man wanted to go back.
The fishing poles have magnets on them and the fish have magnetic hooks on them.
There was a chart listing the types of fish you can "catch" and a place to measure them.
Little Man really enjoyed figuring out which fish he caught! :)
There was a pipe xylophone
You can see the laser harp in the background too!
Another of Little Man's favorites is the fire engine with flame-dousing laser
You may notice the fire man boots laying on the floor.
You could dress up in full fireman attire if you so wish. Little Man didn't.
But you can see that he is intent on shooting the hose. That hose is a laser.
You match it up to the little dots on this thing and the fire "goes out". Cool, huh?!!
There is a honeycomb climbing structure
The sand table
The orange table in the background is the blocks and dominoes table.
There is a "garden zone"
The "dirt" is cut up pieces of rubber. You can plant the flowers.
Build-a-house is also a fun exhibit
Face painting table
The pretend play market was also a hit! Especially the cash register!!
I thought the pretend play pizza shop was cute!
There was also a veterinarian office
Some other exhibits that I didn't get pictures of are:
lego table
ball mountain
a theater with LOTS of costumes
train table
craft center
question box
It's definitely a place where you can spend a couple of hours on one of those days where nothing is on the calendar. It's not bad for a few moms in a small town that threw a hands on museum together!!
