Being Little Man's nanny

Two years ago today I left teaching and became Little Man's nanny.  It has been the best two years by far.  I have the greatest job in the entire world.  Little Man is the best.  He's hilarious, so fun, smart, compassionate, and oh so cute.  His parents are kind, genuinely caring, generous, understanding, and super easy to work for.

I loved teaching, but I also love being a nanny.  My job is the best of both worlds.  I get to do mini lessons with Little Man.... watch the light bulb moments.... do all sorts of fun crafts... encourage his imagination... help him to be a critical thinker and problem solver... help instill values, character, and self discipline... and plan fun and exciting adventures for us.  All while having the freedom to go where we want to go and do what we want to do.  If it's sunny and nice outside, we can enjoy a picnic at the park with a leisure swing on the playground.  If it's rainy, we can curl up with a good book at the library or put on a puppet show in the tree house.  If it's snowy out, we can choose not to go anywhere, stay in our his pajamas and watch cartoons all day.  It's perfect.

I am so blessed!

I like to "celebrate" things and especially things that are important to me.  So each year, I celebrate the anniversary of the date I started.  Last year I made K some scrabble tile necklaces with Little Man's hand print and art work.  I also gave them a nice thank you card.  They make my job possible and I am forever grateful.

This year I made them the name plaques like I made Nana and Papa.  Those were a huge hit, so I knew they would be a hit with mommy and daddy too.  (K already stole Nana and Papa's Christmas present from Little Man.  She probably would have stole the signs had they not said Nana and Papa! :)

I made a card

and the plaques

I didn't forget about Little Man!  I wanted him to have a gift too.  He wouldn't really have appreciated a craft from me, so I went ahead and got him something he would love! :)
