My Kitchen

Not that it is terribly exciting, but I thought I'd share what my kitchen looks like.  I know some of my family that is out of state would be interested in seeing it.

I mentioned that it is floor to ceiling cream.  I had visions of doing something like this...

Isn't the turquoise and red fun?  Do a google search for turquoise and red kitchens and you will find all sorts of great pictures and ideas.

But... we decided that for now we aren't going to paint.  The paint job in the house is awful.  It doesn't look bad in pictures, but it is that cheap builders beige.  Every scuff mark shows up on it and they just did an awful job with the painting.  They stopped like an inch above the baseboards, but yet got paint on the ceilings of almost every room in the house.  Regardless, we don't want to put a ton of money into painting the place until we know that we are going to be here for awhile.  So for now we are just living with the paint job and hoping people don't notice. ;)

This is the view from our doorway.  The living room is to the right.  It is one of the least decorated rooms in our house.  We need more furniture for it.  So until I know what is going where, I don't want to put anything on the walls.  There is a hall closet to the left and also the door to the garage.  Then there are the stairs to go down and then the stairs to go up. You can also see the dining room that is off the kitchen.

Standing in the doorway.  The rugs are red.  They seem to look dark here?!

I hate the glass top.  We had one in our condo and vowed never to own one again.  It's such a pain to clean.

I'm not sure if you can tell, but the fridge isn't cream.  It was when we moved in.  Unfortunately, it also had some health code violations that were irreversible (I'll spare you the details!).  So they had to get us a new fridge.  Well apparently the color of the appliances is a special order (and the cabinets were an upgrade too), so getting a matching fridge was out of the question.  So it's white. It actually doesn't stick out quite as much as I had thought it would.  Plus, it's usually covered in Olivia's art work, so I guess it's OK.  I can feel comfortable using the ice cubes or drinking water out of it since it's new.  New is always nice.

I mostly just used what I already had when it came to decorating, which is why there is no turquoise.

So there you have it.  It works.  It's not super outdated and doesn't have ugly wallpaper on it, so I'm not complaining.  It gets the job done. :)
