Milk Soy Protein Intolerance (MSPI)

The results are in.  Sadly, we have to go back to the Alimentum.  Olivia was doing great.  She had no change in mood or temperament.  She didn't develop any eczema or diaper rash.  Surprisingly, her spitting up (and even drooling??) seemed to diminish some.  She wasn't coughing up a hair ball or wheezing.  There can be multiple signs in a diaper that can show an allergy--color, smell, texture, and consistency.  We had issues with all of the above when we were originally going through her issues. This time around all was looking good except for one little thing.  Every other diaper (or so) had the stringy/clumpy mucous type stuff in it.  (Sorry!)  I knew from experience exactly what it meant.  Since everything else was going so well, we weren't ready to jump ship just yet.  We gave it a week and it kept happening every so often.  Olivia seemed happy as can be, but we were worried that it may be doing something on the inside that we didn't know about.  I called the doctor to ask if we could keep on with the Sensitive or if we had to switch back.  She said that we needed to switch back and try again when Olivia is 9 months old.  If there was stringy type poop, then it means that her digestive system isn't fully handling the dairy.  It could cause her GI tract to get inflamed or infected, which would not be good.  It could also cause issues and allergies with other solids.  So back to the liquid gold we go.  I'm bummed, but hopeful.  It's not really even about the cost.  If she continues to have these issues then it means things like no yogurt, no cheese, no puffs (soy), and on and on we go.  I'm hopeful that since there were no other issues, and our doctor said to try again in 3 months verses 6, that she could still grow out of it sooner rather than later.  In the meantime, we'll just keep praying and believing for healing.
