Doctor Visit Update

Yesterday was the doctor's appointment I've been waiting for (and slightly dreading).

Here's the scoop:

*By a weird twist of events (or let's be real--God's hand), Michael was told on Monday night that he didn't have to come it at 8 on Tuesday--his normal time--but rather 9:45.  It had something to do with training they were doing.  My appointment was set for 9 and the ultrasound was to happen first thing.  He was able to come, see the ultrasound and Olivia (his absolute favorite thing to do!), and then head to work as I headed to the lab for a blood draw.  How cool is that? :)

*My placenta has moved way up, to the side and out of the way

*Olivia is no longer breech, but rather she is head down

*Her heart rate (two different times) was 148--down a little bit from 160 last time, but still good

*It's still a girl!  Thank goodness! :)

*Everything is measuring good with Olivia (head size, etc)

*Her estimated weight is 2 pounds, 11 ounces.  I have no idea if this is right on track or if it's a little big.  The week by week book we read said she should be around 2 pounds.  I feel like my doctor's office tells me nothing!  I'm getting a little frustrated with that.  Anyway, both Michael and I were almost 9 pound babies, so I'm expecting she'll be at least 8 pounds.  If she gains a half a pound a week from here on out (like she's "suppose to"), she'll be almost 9 and a half pounds.  Lord, I hope not!

*My blood pressure was up just slightly, but the nurse said it was from all the sugar I just drank.
It was still within the acceptable range.

*The thyroid medicine seems to be working.  My levels are good, so I don't have to up the medication.

*I had to drink the stuff for the glucose test.  It wasn't nearly as bad as everyone made it out to be.  It literally just tasted like very sweet fruit punch.  It wasn't thick or syrupy or anything like that.  Maybe they've improved it over the years?! :)

*I won't find out the results for a few days.  I'm actually happy about this.  I know with some doctors you find out the same day.  Others find out the very next day.  I asked last time, if I failed, when would I have to take the 3 hour test.  The nurse said within the week.  Well, I am going on vacation.  I didn't want to take it before vacation and then worry about what I was eating.  I also didn't want to have to take it the day I got back from vacation, after eating not so healthy (or at least away from home) for 5 days.  Hopefully I passed, but if I failed I'll most likely be taking the 3 hour test toward the end of next week.

*I start going to the doctor every two weeks now.  My next appointment is the 27th.

Here are some pictures
Her hands were by her face most of the time.  At one point it looked like she was trying to hide!

She almost looks like she might be sucking her thumb here?
From these pictures, it looks like she has Michael's chin... which really translates to, she doesn't have a chin! :)  He is not necessarily happy about this, as the whole reason he keeps a goatee is to make it look like he does have a chin. :)  Ha!  We'll see.  She'll be beautiful either way.

  1. I couldn't figure out what the big deal w/ the drink was either, tasted like orange soda to me (w/ both pregnancies!) it's really no biggie!

Glad Olivia is growing perfectly--take the weight they tell you w/ a grain of salt. My friend's Dr told her she was going to have an 8lb baby (by the ultrasound) her baby was barely 6lbs! LOL!

8lbs and up is a great size!! and you're right she'll be beautiful no matter what..her profile is so cute!!! I see a chin :)
