Flashback Friday

This Friday we are going to flashback to the good old wedding days.  I haven't done any crafts recently, but I have lots of crafts from back then.  Today, I will share with you our guest book.  I had tons of fun making it.

When it came to our guest book, I knew I wanted something different.  Lots of people had the pictures with the mat that guests signed.  That's cute, but I wanted different.  I thought about guests signing a platter or something like that, but I wasn't sure all the names would fit.  I threw around idea after idea and then I came up the scrapbook idea.  I love crafts.  I enjoy scrapbooking and creating, so that's exactly what I did.  Plus, I knew it would make a cute coffee table book.

We had tons of engagement pictures, so I decided they needed to be showcased.

One side was the picture with room for signatures and the other side was scrapbooked love quotes.
For the most part I stuck with pink and green since those were our colors.

I found booklets of vellum "love" quotes from JoAnn Fabrics and Michael's

Have I mentioned I love paisleys?

I had a blast finding all the supplies necessary.

More paisleys
Sorry about the fuzzy pictures... I was having some lighting issues.

I love this one!

Flashback Friday

I know we just took a look back at our wedding, and sorry to bore you, but today we are going to take a "flashback" to another important date.  Four years ago today, we got engaged!!

Michael calling his mom to tell her...

We knew we were going to get married very soon after we started dating.  We even chose our wedding date (based on when I was done with the school year), before we were engaged.  Michael got the ring and was itching to ask me.

We had already talked about getting married at our church (which ended up not working out because of Saturday night church), so he called me up one Sunday morning and asked if I wanted to go check out a park near the church to see if we wanted to get pictures taken there.  I said sure.

We started walking around and he asked if I saw any place that I would like to take pictures at. We were near a gazebo will a big circle in the side.  I said it would look cool to take pictures in there.  We got into the gazebo and he got down on one knee, said all sorts of nice things, and proposed.  I said yes, of course! :)  We made all the necessary calls, had a relaxing evening and then went out for a celebratory dinner.

We later got our engagement pictures taken at the same park we got engaged out.  Cool, right?
Our wedding photographer threw in the engagement pictures for free.  He ended up taking like 80-some pictures and sent us a disc of 55 to print as we wish.  Here are some favorites...

In the gazebo...

The others will have to wait for my "oh how I love thee..." posts! :)
Happy Engagement Day Babes! Love you!

Flashback Friday

For our first anniversary Michael and I went to a bed and breakfast about an hour and a half away (still in Ohio).  We needed something a little low budget, but still wanted to at least get away for a little celebration.  The place was really cute and we had a great time.  We went 4 wheeling (my first time ever), took some walks and enjoyed the scenery and even enjoyed the mini petting zoo.  Yep.  That's right.  I did something involving animals.  Now if you know me at all, you know I am not an animal person.  Most animals scare me.... even if it's an irrational fear, it's still a fear.  For example, I know in my mind there is nothing a little tweety bird can do to me.  Regardless, if it lands on my shoulder or flies close--I will scream and duck.  I can't help it.  So when the lady at the B&B gave us a bag of apples to feed the mini horses and the camel, I was a bit nervous.

Michael looked like he was having so much fun feeding and petting the little guys that I decided I didn't want to be left out.

I was taking pictures and then all of the sudden...
AHHH!  Yeah.  There was no zoom involved in this picture.  The guy was suddenly in my space.  You better believe I screamed! :)

So before all the apples were gone, I thought I'd give it a go.  A little hesitant at first.

a little closer...

Ok. CLOSE!  Take the picture quick!!!

Oh my word, I even touched the thing!

Alright.  I guess we can be friends.

I fed and petted the miniature horses too (it was super windy that day!)

So I'll scream at birds and RUN from cats.... but apparently camels are doable.  Yes, I am fully aware I make no sense.  I can't help it! :)

Flashback Friday

I've decided that just for fun I'm going to do a "Flashback Friday" every once in a while.  This may include pictures or stories from the past, a re-visit of old blog posts, or other thing I come up with to look back on.

I think you are really going to enjoy this first one!!  I have a special treat for you. :)  Back when I was teaching, I would go all out for special occasions and fun "days".  One of those fun "days" was Dr. Seuss day.  We would make green eggs and ham--with the kids actually cracking the eggs, stirring, and scrambling in an electric skillet.  We'd read Seuss books... play educational games... do related art projects, etc.  I would also make each kid a scrapbook to give them at the end of the year.  Because of this, I always took pictures of everything and made sure I had fun pictures to include.  One such picture I did for Dr. Seuss day was that I drew out a huge Cat in the Hat.  I cut out the face and then had the kids pose inside the Cat in the Hat.  They loved it.  When I quit teaching I had to bring everything home.  While some of the stuff sat in our living room waiting to be taken to my mother-in-law's basement, Michael decided to look at some of the stuff.  He came across the Cat and want his turn to pose in the cut out.  I just happened to snap a picture.  Lucky us! :)

Don't worry... I still have it in case you want a picture too! :)

Happy Friday my friends.
